Downer PipeTech offers pressure lining which effectively maximising flow capacities whilst minimising the impact on the surrounding environment.

Pressure lining effectively produces a tight-fitting liner in the host pipe. The process involves pulling into place a pipe that is slightly larger in diameter than the main to be rehabilitated, thus maximising flow capacities whilst resulting in zero impact on adjacent services and minimising the impact on the surrounding environment.

Applications & Benefits

  • A polyethylene pipe is rapidly installed to produce an excellent standalone pressure pipe or a corrosion resistant barrier
  • Reduces disruption to traffic, the community and the environment, cost and repair time without reducing strength or flow capacity
  • Pressure lining is a die drawn natural reversion process
  • No need for pressure reversion, curing, or heat – the PE pipe reverts to a tight fit naturally
  • The Downer PipeTech Pressure lining process can reduce original diameters up to 15% giving a much tighter fitting liner when reverted (no annular gap)
  • The flow capacity of the lined pipe is close to that of the original pipe
  • Liners from 63mm to 1100mm can be installed in insertion lengths up to 1km
  • Extensively tested and implemented in the British water and gas industries and now used worldwide
  • Compact lightweight equipment (much of the equipment required similar to that being used in installing new PE systems – e.g. butt fusion machines, de-beaders, towing heads, electro fusion equipment)
